Business Support, HR, Customer Services and Occupational Health. These services are at the heart of the council, keeping it running smoothly – and we couldn’t do without them. Roles range from Administrators and Marketing Executives to Occupational Therapists and HR Managers. Through collaboration, they drive our mission forward, so we can give communities great services.

Business Support
Administration, information processing, business services – these roles support our operations in a variety of ways. Using established council processes, they manage routine transactions, give advice about our procedures and answer real-time inquiries.

HR&OD
Innovative technology. Modern employment practices. Streamlined processes. Together, they enable HR&OD to give employees a great experience. These services are behind the culture and behaviours that make Wiltshire a great place to work, supporting high performance. They also help us bring the best talent to the council – with the help of an award-winning candidate experience.

People Change
The People Change projects team drives essential changes within the council. Project and programme managers enhance skills, work methods and engagement, all in line with our wider business plan priorities. This team is also responsible for tailored engagement and OD (Organisational Development) interventions. In other words, our OD specialists mastermind the way the council adapts to change.

Communications, Marketing and Events
With our vision and goals in mind, our comms experts tackle everything from internal newsletters to area boards around the county, as well as reputation, crisis management and marketing. Whatever the project, our team thinks strategically, protecting our brand and profile.

Customer Services
Efficient and effective communication and resolution is this team’s goal. Our Customer Service Advisors are always ready to help and provide guidance whether it’s a colleague or a member of the community.

Occupational Health
We are legally obliged to care for our team and the people affected by its actions. But at Wiltshire we go further, setting a positive example by making employee health, safety, wellbeing and a healthy work environment a priority. Occupational Health is the team responsible for managing sickness, providing expert advice, managing health surveillance and ensuring employee fitness. Whatever the problem, they get people back on their feet again.

Progression.

We know progression is important to you, but it can mean different things to different people. That’s why we’ve created a range of support tools where you can gain valuable experience, acquire new skills and embrace greater responsibilities. Each progression journey is bespoke, but we have defined some fundamental steps:

Mid-level: These require more experience and skills, often with added responsibilities.

Senior-level: These roles involve important decisions, team management, and major contributions to the organisation.

Leadership: Managing the organisation’s direction and strategy as managers or directors.

Side stepping: Switching roles or departments for diverse experience or for more education to progress or get qualifications.

Flexible working

People give their best when their job fits in with their lives. So, wherever possible, we offer flexible working. There are several options available:

  • Flexi-time scheme (for most roles)
  • Compressed or part-time hours
  • Job shares or term-time contracts where appropriate.

We’ve invested heavily in new tech to make flexible working possible.
