To mark Learning Disability Week (17 – 23 June), we’d like to acknowledge some of the amazing teams who support people living with learning disabilities.
Learning Disability and Autism Service (LDAS)
The team supported a customer who lived at home with his father, who moved to a nursing home. They were able to get the customer a small package of care in place so he can remain living independently and he is being supported to secure a small property. This was important to the customer as living in the town is vital for him. The LDAS service works with adults with a learning disability and/or autism to assess their needs, identify outcomes and goals, support people to access care and move into their own homes.
Canon’s House
Canon’s House, a respite home for children with learning disabilities, and complex health and care needs, celebrated 50 years’ of service. The team held a birthday party festival and invited all the children and their families to enjoy a barbecue, games and a local DJ. The event was a great opportunity for parents to meet each other and get to know our employees.
Bradbury House
Bradbury House has received some lovely feedback, where a customer is making positive progress with having meals in the dining room, making cakes and other activities. They are also more vocal when they return from stays. Bradbury House is a respite centre that supports individuals with personal care, accessing the community and working on their independent living skills.
