Sara - Apprentice OD Assistant

Tell us a little bit about yourself – Your work background, your interests…
My name is Sara and I am an apprentice OD assistant, I am a fun and outgoing country girl who loves the exploring the outdoors.
My interests include running, horse riding and socialising with friends I love new challenges and meeting new people.
I previously had a admin role in the farming industry and wanted a change in career and a new challenge. I function best when I have a chocolate bar to hand!
What made you apply for an apprenticeship at Wiltshire Council?
I applied for apprenticeship at Wiltshire Council for a new career path and to open my employment opportunities.
I have a family and ensuring job stability was important, Wiltshire Council offer permanent positions after successfully completing an apprenticeship, therefore this attracted me to Wiltshire Council’s apprenticeship program.
I am interested in learning more about organisational development, this attracted me to this apprenticeship, so it is the full package for me.
Since starting your apprenticeship, what would you say is the best thing about working at Wiltshire Council, and your job specifically?
Since starting I have enjoyed the variety of this role. Flexible working means a work life balance which allows me more time with my little boy.
What’s the best way to start the day?
Yoga and coffee (if only I had the time!)
What do you wish you knew more about?
Eating healthy
Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
Lake District, it is so beautiful. Also the cock and bull music festival!
What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
Justin Bieber! I am open minded and have a varied taste in music
What's the most daring thing you've ever done?
I sang live in a rock concert when I was 11
What are three interesting facts about you?
- Drink far too much tea
- Love anything with gin
- I can’t bake cakes to save my life
What is your favourite book or film, and why?
Bad mums, I love this film!
What would you say to someone who is thinking of applying for an apprenticeship at Wiltshire Council?
I would say to anyone to look at a apprenticeship as they are for everyone regardless of age and that there is a real job at the end of the apprenticeship. I am very excited to be doing my apprenticeship and learning new skills.
