Kiri - Senior Recruitment Practitioner

Tell us a little bit about yourself – your work background, your interests…
I love to go to Bingo with my mum (family tradition as my late grandad loved it), I have a 4 year old boy so love to spend quality time with him (cinema, visiting attractions, building Lego), and I also enjoy spending time with friends shopping, evenings out, meals.
I am trained in nails and beauty so I enjoy ‘me’ time watching my favourite film and doing my nails. I also enjoy cooking – especially baking brownies as they’re a hit with everyone who’s ever tried them!
What would you say is the best thing about working at Wiltshire Council, and your job specifically?
I would say the team I work with as they are all very very supportive of each other. The flexible working is one of the best things, with having a young child it is very helpful! Also, having worked in various roles previously (in the hospitality industry, travel industry, retail, charity, etc) I have never been 100% happy in any of my jobs and I would often dread or not look forward to going to work, I have never once had that feeling at Wiltshire Council so I know I’m in the right job and I’m happy.
The progression opportunities are also one of the best things – I completed my apprenticeship in July 2017 and became a Recruitment Assistant and in February 2018 I was promoted to a Senior Recruitment Practitioner with even more career path opportunities to go for in the future.
What’s the best way to start the day?
Snoozing my alarm and staying in bed as long as possible!
What is the most meaningful part of your role?
Ensuring good working relationships with various managers and helping them through their recruitment process including advertising their roles, supporting them with shortlisting/interviews and other general queries, and quality control checking contracts of employment for their staff as a legal document.
What do you wish you knew more about?
The universe – where it stops, how can it go on forever, how did it start, etc. we will probably never know the answer! (I just find it mind boggling)
What would you be doing if you weren’t in your current role?
Although I’m a very motivated person and enjoy working, I also quite like the thought of a more relaxing way of life with not needing to work, owning a yacht, travelling the world, always sunbathing with a cocktail in hand and having a personal chef cook for me every day!
Maybe this will happen one day when I retire......
Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
The Great Barrier Reef in Australia
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
An astronaut to experience the lack of gravity and instead floating
What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?

What would you say to someone who is thinking of applying for a role at Wiltshire Council?
I would say if it’s what you want to do then go for it. I haven’t regretted one moment or once looked back and have never been happier in a workplace.
I can’t see myself working for any other organisation in the future and want to stay employed with WC for the foreseeable future.
