Katy - Technical Support Officer
Tell us a little bit about yourself (as much as you want to reveal!) – Your work background, your interests…
Hello, my name is Katy and I am a Technical Support Officer in Environmental Services. This is a new position I gained in June after being an apprentice in the planning department for a year and a half. Before Wiltshire Council, I did Level 3 Animal Care and Management at Lackham College for a year, as I wanted to learn more about different animals and how to care for them. After this I successfully got a job at Morrisons and worked there for a couple of years until I gained my apprenticeship at Wiltshire Council studying Level 2 Business and Administration.
Outside of work my other main interests are photography and makeup. I studied photography at school and have since done a few shoots which include wedding and pet photography. This is still something I like to do in my spare time as it brings out my creative side and allows me to make others happy with my photos. In addition to this, I also have a passion for makeup. I started becoming more interested in this a couple of years back and have since self-taught myself many different techniques, which I now show and do on other people! However, I think my parents are slowly becoming frustrated with having makeup left all over the house, oops!
What's the best thing about working at Wiltshire Council, and your job specifically?
For me there are many benefits from working at Wiltshire Council. The flexible working is high up on the list, but it is also a nice environment to work in as everyone is relaxed, helpful and willing to help each other, as teamwork is an important factor for everybody in the council. From my job specifically, the best thing about it would be the confidence I have gained whilst working here.
What makes you have a good day at work?
A good day at work for me is when things run relatively if not perfectly smoothly, but also having everyone from my team in as it adds to the atmosphere of the day.?
What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?
So far I would say squid, tasted quite nice actually!
What is your favourite music for your commute to work?
Something upbeat to help me wake up (I am not a morning person)
What is your favourite book or film, and why?
One of my favourite films would have to be ‘The Aristocats’ because it was my most watched film growing up, pretty sure it drove my parents mad the amount of times I had it on repeat…
What is your ideal holiday destination?
I would love to visit Santorini and the Maldives!
What is the first thing you bought with your own money?
A Michael Kors watch! (I know naughty, but worth it!)
What pets do you have?
I have 4 rescue cats.
What attracted you to Wiltshire Council?
It seemed like a good organisation to work for, have always heard good things about Wiltshire Council and how they look after their staff.
