Meet Cameron, Child and Youth Voice Support Worker

Hi, my name is Cameron Strawson, I am the Child and Youth Voice Support Worker, I am honoured to have been part of the Child and Youth Voice Team for just over a year. I am care-experience, I went into foster care aged 14, which was a very positive and life changing experience, and I am really excited to be able to use my role to give back and help other young people to overcome adversity and also feel empowered to have a voice.

I really enjoy my job, and I am pleased to have played a role transforming the way that we listen to young people at Wiltshire Council. I have enjoyed being a part of some fantastic projects, such as our upcoming Star Awards celebration event for care-experienced young people. I feel privileged to be able to work alongside some very talented young people who are going to be putting on a musical performance and a fashion show to raise awareness from some fantastic causes. I am really looking forward to two new apprentices joining our team and transforming our groups such as the new Wiltshire Youth Council, and our current Children in Care Council, to reach out to even more young people in Wiltshire and make sure their voices are heard.
