A #DayInTheLife of a Countryside Access Officer

A #DayInTheLife of a Countryside Access Officer

Hey Paul, tell us a little bit about yourself!

Hi, I’m Paul! I'm 37 years old and married with a 3 year old daughter. I enjoy being outside in the countryside and have a keen interest in walking, football and motor-sport.

How long have you been in your role?

I joined Wiltshire Council in 2005 and have been with the Rights of Way and Countryside team ever since.

What’s the best thing about being a Countryside Access Officer?

I love being able to get out in the beautiful Wiltshire Countryside; my area covers parts of three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty!

What is the weirdest query you’ve had to deal with?

We have had a few public footpaths which cross ponds and lakes, always a difficult one trying to make them available on the legal line!

What would you say to someone who is thinking of applying for a role at Wiltshire Council?

Wiltshire Council is great place to work with lots of varied jobs. I have made some good friends through working here, and we regularly meet up to play sports, and socialise outside of work. :)
