Tell us a little bit about yourself – Your work background, your interests…
I came into local government after a career in publishing, I work as the Sport and Physical Activity team’s Funding and Events officer. I have a varied work programme which involves supporting the team and sports clubs in securing funding and I also manage the Funding Future Olympians and Paralympians foundations grants.
I have been involved in helping to run numerous high profile events for Wiltshire Council including Cycle Wiltshire and the Wiltshire Business and Sports Gala Dinner. I am especially proud of the work I have done on the annual sports challenge, I developed the Challenge which included a number of activity challenges for members of the public to take part in from scratch as part of our London 2012 offer. I have successfully continued to develop the event each year which peaked last year with the Big Pledge: Road to Rio challenge with over 18,000 participants. Outside of work I am involved in triathlon which involves a great deal of training.

What's the best thing about working at Wiltshire Council, and your job specifically?
I like that Wiltshire Council allows flexible working that means that I have a great work life balance. I particularly enjoy the work I do around the Funding Future Olympians and Paralympians programme where I manage 2 grants streams for athletes who are competing at the top level of their sport or who are just starting their sporting career. I enjoy getting to know all the individuals we fund and supporting them. I particularly enjoy any of their appearance events especially at schools where I witness how much they inspire young people through what they have achieved.
