Savy - ICT Problem Manager
Tell us a little bit about yourself – Your work background, your interests…
My name is Savitha – known as Savy.
I had to relocate to this country after I got married 11 years ago and had to start my personal and professional life here from scratch which was a big challenge and no regrets off course.
After working for HP in India, I thought working in UK would not be much different however for my surprise it was no-where close. I joined the council’s HR team on a week’s contract for scanning the heaps of documents that were piled under the desks. This was a great eye opener for me to realise the other side of the world is not always green ;). Having said that Wiltshire council has grown in the years and I have grown with the council. This place has thought me so much that is beyond words. Right from the culture to its socialism, individualism, rights, ethical values, etc. I am one of the lucky once to now have the best of both countries. For all those who know me here – I have learnt from each one of you and I would like to say a massive thank you to one and all. In this 10 years of my service at Wiltshire council – I have worked with different business services in the council – Starting from scanning documents as a HR assistance to now managing IT Problems for the Council and Police IT. As an IT Problem manger my job is to mainly assist other IT Teams to help identify and ensure the correct resources are available to help ascertain the root cause of service disruptions. This is done both reactively and proactively. The reactive function is to solve problems relating to one or more incidents. The proactive function is to identify and solve problems before incidents occur.
Outside work I love to spending time with my Family.
What's the best thing about working at Wiltshire Council, and your job specifically?
