Amanda - Strategic Delivery Manager
Tell us a little bit about yourself – Your work background, your interests…
I started out in work on a graduate trainee programme with Thresher Wine Shops and studied for my wine exams before becoming a branch manager in Sidmouth. Since then I have worked in retail as a customer services manager and eventually got into Personnel Management as it was known then – thankfully the function has now changed to Human Reources (HR).
Outside of work I have two young children who keep me very busy but I also like to find some time for cooking and creating memorable meals much to the delight of my friends and family!
What's the best thing about working at Wiltshire Council, and your job specifically?
I am now the Strategic Delivery Manager in HR&OD for Wiltshire Council and have a team of 11 people. My job is really rewarding and very varied – I have some staff who look after our employment policies, equalities and pay and reward, and some who manage and implement strategic projects. I also have the lead for staff engagement. This is a really exciting time to be working for the council as we have recognised the need for culture change and we are working hard to embed our brand pillars which are empowering people, innovation and collaboration (EPIC!).
