Wiltshire Council Careers
Welcome to Wiltshire Careers, our online recruitment website - we hope that you will find it helpful and informative.
This is where you will find out about the many different opportunities we have at the newly formed Wiltshire Council.
On 1 April 2009 we became Wiltshire Council, created by the four district councils and the county council coming together to form a unitary authority. Following this decision, a new structure for the Council was agreed and after consultation with the Unions an appointment process was approved that involved the matching of employees to the new structure. Those that weren't matched directly to positions were placed into a 'redeployment pool' and encouraged to apply for vacancies that matched their skills. Therefore many of our vacancies are currently only open to employees only. Once the vacancies have been through the re-deployment pool they will then be released externally.
Following the formation of Wiltshire Council as a unitary authority negotiations are taking place with the Council's recognised trade unions on an exercise to harmonise five sets of pay and other terms and conditions of employment. It is not certain when the results of this exercise will be known, however the earliest date for implement ion is late 2010. The new terms and conditions will ensure that staff are properly rewarded for the work that they undertake, prevent potential discrimination and ensure that staff are paid fairly for work of equal value . The results of this exercise will affect the pay and conditions of the advertised vacancy in the future. If you join the Council you will receive further information about the harmonisation process
You will also find out about how we reward our employees, the benefits available and how we support career development. We recognise that it is largely down to the commitment and dedication of our employees.
